Much more than just a comfy place to sleep, Supernova Hotel is a contemporary concept that fuses sleeping, sipping and shopping in one. Supernova Hotel offers 38 rooms, a Superette nightshop inspired by the exotic tokos, and an intimate listening bar called Supper where bites and private label drinks are accompanied by the crackling sound of vinyl.
Rotterdam spirit entrenched
Contaínr Affaìrs was chosen to create the hotels’ conceptual approach, brand design and spatial design direction. Our approach was not to work from a design theme but rather from our own interest in life, surroundings, textures, materials, craft and patina. Inspired by the neighborhood’s rebellious but creative personality we re-created an atmosphere not yet present in other Rotterdam establishments.
Vivid colors from out of space
The outcome was an unparalleled design that will only get better as visitors leave their own mark. Both intimate and open, we utilized color blocking with ton-sur-ton combinations to dictate the different zones in a subtle but contemporary ode to the neighborhood’s colorful nightshops. Supportive of the rich environment we created a straightforward brand identity that is highly adaptable with four different logos for paper, digital or spatial purposes.
Best hotel design 2019
In the first months Supernova was rewarded with the prestigious Entree Awards for best Hotel Design 2019. The jury —which consisted of renowned interior architects— paid attention to the originality, appearance and functionality of the design and interior of a hotel. She praised the cool and quirky details and —their words— uber cool branding.
‘Containr Affairs helped us creating a unique and refreshing spatial design and solid brand identity for our first hotel that feels familiar, established and like it’s already around forever.’
